R.Scheuchl GmbH: News + Job offer

In connection with the decision for a combined sawing-/milling cell of the R. Scheuchl GmbH, where an essential part of the handling is carried out robot-led, flexibilty had been one of the determining reasons of the ordering customer.

Different types of aluminium-v-crank cases can be removed from sprues, risers and flash. Afterwards they are deburred by a robot-led milling machine.

After identification of the type of casting which is delivered on the transport-belt the three-dimensional position-coordinates of the casting are determined by a specially developed camera system. The determined position-coordinates are transferred to the industrial roboter which takes up the crank case and puts it into the flexible intake of the three-axis-circular-saw. The circular saw has two flexible casting intakes which can be fed with different casting types parallel to the sawing operation. Both cylinder head sides as well as the oil-pan-side of the v-crank case are sawed. A v-cut within the area of the beearing block of the crank case is carried out, too. Due to the high-strength aluminium alloy AlSi17 it had to be paid special attention to a stable design of the sawing aggregate and to the correct choice of the used tool.

After the castings are sawed, they are deburred with a robot-led milling unit. Then the casting is automatically put down onto a pallet transport with which it is led to a subsequent test.

The parameterisable saw with its different casting supports as well as the robot milling unit shows the high degree of flexibility which enables the producer of the crank cases to react fast and particularly very cost-savingly to any changes of the determining factors.
