Interesting machinery for small foundries(26.10.2009)
Released in "Foundry Trade Journal International", October issue 2009
Many small foundries carry out manual de-coring, accepting the high personnel costs involved. To help reduce such costs during the de-coring process, R. Scheuchl GmbH has developed additional versions of its etsablished de-coring machine Shake Champion.
One example is the Shake Champion SC 260, this and other recently developed versions are characterised by high de-coring performance at low initial costs and amortisation within a few years, making the range interesting even for smaller foundries.
The effective principle of the SC 260 is based on vertical oscillation. After fixing the casting into the clamping system, the part is pre-decored using pneumatic hammers before being exposed to vertical oscillation with amplitudes up to 52mm at a frequency of 17Hz. This accelerates the casting by more than 270m/s². The loose sand is ejected by the oscillation from the openings of the castings and discharged over the integrated sand conveyor system.
The SC 260 is suitable for castings with dimensions up to 710x400x360mm up to a weight of 80kg. For castings with inconveniently located openings, the company has developed versions of the Shake Champion where the oscillation unit can be turned from -90° to +180°, so the sand can be discharged effectively. Loading is easy as the clamping device is casting specific and can be adapted simply to each casting.
